Job Description

The role will oversee the definition, design, development and the necessary core reporting architecture to enable appropriate automated Business Intelligence software solutions in Diamond Trading with emphasis on Power BI/ ThoughtSpot.  The incumbent will work with the necessary key stakeholders in De Beers Group IM teams to ensure delivery roadmap. They will oversee the necessary training program and support for key users within Diamond Trading to ensure appropriate user adoption and work with senior management to develop goals, objectives for improving business performance using BI tools. The will also recommend changes to existing business intelligence processes or policies to improve efficiency.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Chair Diamond Trading Digital Council – Chair Diamond Trading Digital Council every 3 weeks.  Prioritize and align Digital projects to ensure correct priority and project governance for DT Exco sign off. 
• Chair Diamond Trading Digital Council Steering Committee. Agree any project anomalies and align project stages in accordance with DT Business Optimization methodology.
• Program management Digital Projects – Manage program on behalf of DT Business Optimization all projects that require either BI, IM or Data Analytics teams in accordance with DT Business Optimization methodology. Ensure all BI governance is adhered to.
• Effectively manage the Business Intelligence (BI) function through coaching and provision of on-the-job development and other development mechanisms in order to grow the leadership and management capabilities of the BI function and strengthen succession plans.
• Manage the Business Intelligence budget in accordance with target expenditures, seeking and implementing opportunities to reduce/minimize spending.
• Oversee the Coordination with technology vendors within the Auction Sales business unit to ensure that new systems are compatible with existing systems.
• Technical knowledge with the ingestion and curation of data, delivering DDVs, databricks and PowerBI reports to the business. (in alignment with and using the standard DA architecture foundations) 
• Manages development and testing teams in alignment with project deliverables. Provides accurate timing & costing for projects.
• Ensures quality service delivery and enhancements of DA Business Intelligence (DT specific) solutions
• Manages the portfolio of projects and allocates resources according to business defines deliverables, timelines and expectations

SHE, Risk Management and Business Integrity

• Ensure corporate governance requirements in technical, assurance, occupational health and safety, and environment are in place for projects and all staff (contract and permanent) and that equipment complies with governance, safety, and security standards and policies.
• Liaise with relevant management functions to ensure all relevant governance and assurance protocols are observed.
• Ensure timely and appropriate incident reporting, management and investigation and implement required remedial action to maintain and restore standards.
• Implement and participate in SHE campaigns as scheduled.
• Participate in risk assessment processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s  Degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related discipline

Experience

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in Business Intelligence field
• Extensive knowledge and handling of project and program management methodology and techniques
• Demonstrated experience in a people leadership role including managing workload and reviewing the work of others to ensure consistency with task requirements.
• Business Intelligence work experience or similar related field.

Knowledge And Skills

• Advanced Excel and Statistical Analysis
• Experiential knowledge in ingestion and curation of data.
• Proven experience with programming languages such as (SQL, Python, etc.)
• Proficiency in BI Software (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik)
