Summary:
The Director, IT will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of all technology initiatives across the organization, with ownership of all enterprise applications and systems except NetSuite, Salesforce, Tableau, and Snowflake. This role will work in close partnership with the Business Intelligence team, which owns those platforms, to ensure seamless integration, data flow, and business process alignment across systems.
The Director, IT will also drive the transition from outsourced IT services to an in-house IT function, including assessing which services should remain outsourced versus brought in-house. In addition, this leader will evaluate, implement, and govern the responsible use of emerging technologies, including AI productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot and generative AI applications) with input from other functional leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the company’s IT strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Serve as the primary advisor to leadership on technology opportunities, risks, and emerging trends, including artificial intelligence.
- Establish IT policies, standards, and governance processes in collaborat with relevant functional leaders.
- Applications & Systems Ownership
- Oversee enterprise applications and systems outside of NetSuite, Salesforce, Tableau, and Snowflake. Other enterprise software may be added to these systems/applications
- Partner closely with the Business Intelligence team to ensure integration, data integrity, and alignment across all platforms.
- Lead selection, implementation, and optimization of business applications (HRIS, collaboration tools, ERP modules outside NetSuite, etc.).
- Transition from Outsourced to In-House IT Operations and End-User Support
- Develop and execute a roadmap for transitioning IT services from an outsourced provider to an internal team.
- Assess which functions should remain outsourced (e.g., specialized support, managed services) versus in-house for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and control.
- Manage the relationship with the current outsourced IT vendor during the transition to ensure continuity and service quality.
- Build an in-house IT team capable of supporting the company’s long-term needs.
- Provide technology training and enforce IT policies.
- AI & Emerging Technology
- Evaluate and implement AI productivity applications (e.g., Copilot, chatbots, workflow automation).
- Establish policies and guardrails for the responsible use of AI with functional leaders, including data privacy, security, and ethical considerations.
- Partner with functional leaders to identify use cases where AI can safely improve productivity, decision-making, and customer experience and implement solutions for those use cases.
- Infrastructure & Security
- Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, networks, and cloud solutions.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of all systems and applications.
- Lead cybersecurity strategy and programs to protect company data.
- Compliance & Business Continuity
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, SOX, ISO standards).
- Partner with appropriate teams to support validated systems, electronic records management, and secure environments for development and testing.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing IT team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, service, and accountability.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Vendor & Budget Management
- Evaluate, select, and manage IT vendors, consultants, and SaaS providers.
- Develop and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with leaders across all to deliver technology solutions that drive efficiency and scalability.Collaborate with the Business Intelligence to align on enterprise data strategy, reporting needs, and business application roadmaps.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity as applied to life science or digital health.
- Experience managing outsourced IT vendors and building internal IT capabilities.
- Background in evaluating and deploying AI and productivity applications, with a focus on responsible use.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, especially with analytics and business intelligence functions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Smooth transition from outsourced IT to in-house support without service disruption.
- Reliable performance and uptime of all IT-owned systems and infrastructure.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, Data Engineering, or a similar technical leadership role, including experience managing enterprise data platforms and infrastructure.
- Experience in the medical device or life sciences required
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance standards applicable to life science and digital health companies.
- Demonstrated success leading IT transformations or insourcing initiatives.
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and IT risk management.
- Hands-on expertise with current IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, SaaS environments, and data security.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and projects in fast-paced, high-growth environments, balancing operational execution with long-term strategic planning.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
