The Opportunity:
We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Mainframe Systems Engineer, you will work with other System Engineers, Applications Programmers, and support teams to perform daily activities ranging in complexity and be responsible for the installation, configuration, upkeep and reliable operation of one or more environments. You will own and drive projects from start (gathering requirements) to finish (release into production). While building components of powerful payment technologies, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
Job Description:
As a VIP Middleware Applications Staff Software Engineer you will:
- Develop / maintain efficient applications, communication, database and operating systems code capable of processing large message volumes in a quickly evolving payments world
- Provide support and problem resolution for Visa’s online authorization system
- Perform business and technical analysis, design, code, unit/system test, implementation and documentation of solutions
- Develop on multiple operating systems using multiple languages
- Coordinate efforts across multiple organizations/teams, leading a team of your peers and less seasoned developers to accomplish common goals
- Communicate effectively across the organization to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
•5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
•6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
•B.S. in Computer Science with 8+ years of z/TPF Mainframe System Engineering and Software Development Experience
•Expert knowledge with z/TPF Technologies, Assembler and C/C++ Programming services
•Extensive experience with TCP/IP communication protocol. Working knowledge of MQ Series, HTTP, and SOAP desired
•Expert knowledge of VPARS, TPF toolkit and debugger, and testing zTPF software in a VM environment.
•Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent assignments with both technical and business staff
•Experience with structured analysis, object-oriented analysis and distributed systems and/or client server desirable.
•Flexibility, self-motivated, high work standards, attention to detail, ability to perform as an individual contributor or as a member or leader of a team.
•Excellent written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 124,300.00 to 180,050.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
