We are currently looking for a: Sr. Engineer (m/f/d) for our Global Membrane Cleaning & Circularity Center of Excellence in Leiden, the Netherlands.
Your Responsibilities
As Senior Engineer you will work within global projects in the space of membrane cleaning, digital innovation and water reuse+recycling / chemical circularity within our industrial division.
You will join the team of the Nalco Water Division in Leiden located in the Netherlands with strong connect to the Center of excellence for membrane cleaning and water/chemical circularity located in Monheim, Germany which is globally responsible for our UltrasilTM Membrane Cleaning range and Digital membrane solutions. In close collaboration with our customer from the e.g. Dairy, Brew & Beverage, Food we develop solutions in the lab and upscale in our pilot center testing on membrane plants. We work closely with all regions around the globe to bring new innovations to our customers.
You will work on designing prototypes as well as Data analysis for digital innovation and new sensor testing. In this role you will drive multiple million-dollar projects using Phase and Gate review processes.
You would work with virtual teams over the globe across functions and with external partners like customers, supplier and universities to drive innovations. This includes designing, planning, analysing and reporting lab and pilot experiments, as well as managing field trials at customer sites in Europe.
The work includes test on membrane module and flat sheet pilot units in the Ecolab facilities and independent management of (sub-) projects within global innovation initiatives. Also, the execution and support of field trials at EU customer sites is part of the role.
In this role, you will get to:
- Contribute to the development of differentiated technologies in the space of membrane applications, digital membrane solutions and solutions in the space of chemical and water circularity
- Develop capabilities within taking responsibility of regional sub projects
- Invent new product concepts by performing screening in lab, pilot and field test at customer sites

Your Profile:
- Passion and curiosity to solve complex problems
- Graduate level (M.Sc., PhD) as a chemical engineer, environmental engineer or equivalent degree
- 3-5 years of professional experience in related fields
- Preferred experiences in the field of water and/or chemical circularity and membrane technology
- Background in R&D work and excellent project management skills
- Commitment for traveling for customer interaction and field testing
- Fluent in written and spoken English is a MUST
