Responsible for daily Patent Law Specialist involving prosecution, oppositions, litigation, creating reports, knowledge of patent laws globally for Ecolab’s patent portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Daily maintenance and overall operation of Ecolab’s electronic docketing system and patent databases including the docketing of all incoming correspondence from global patent offices and patent counsel.
- Daily maintenance of patent files in electronic document management system, including entering documents and correspondence from patent offices and external patent counsel into electronic patent file wrappers.
- Generate docket reports detailing action items and due dates. Check daily for upcoming deadlines and due dates in the docketing system as directed by attorneys or paralegals. Communicate and coordinate with global patent counsel to ensure compliance with filing due dates.
- Create new matters in docketing system, document management system, and e-billing system and coordinate the opening of the new matters with in-house attorneys/paralegals and external patent counsel.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of all data entry into the document management system and the docketing system, including data entry for global patent applications, oppositions, and litigation case data. Maintain a high level of data integrity in these systems by auditing data as directed.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of three to five years of experience as a global patent docketing specialist in a law firm or in-house corporate setting,
- University diploma or certification required.
- English fluency and experience working in primarily English-speaking roles.
- Experience with patent docketing systems, such as Foundation IP.
- Experience with document management systems, such as First to File.
- Experience with electronic billing and invoice management software, such as Legal Tracker.
- Global patent portfolio docket management experience. Extensive understanding of international patent filing and prosecution processes, including experience with USPTO, EPO, and other patent office databases.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously across multiple geographies in a high-volume setting and prioritize efficiently to meet deadlines in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality and effectively manage sensitive information.
