The Senior Accountant is a key individual contributor within the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, optimizing accounting processes, and supporting the company's financial objectives and would report to the Senior Financial Accounting Manager. This role involves a focus on all accounting aspects and will be working closely with various departments to drive continuous improvement in data quality and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will leverage strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles to manage complex financial tasks and contribute to informed decision-making.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
  • Execute month-end closing activities, including journal entries and adherence to internal and external deadlines.
  • Assist with capital expenditure (Capex) spending analytics and support fixed asset management processes, including capitalization, depreciation, and inventory audits.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, guidelines, and policies to improve financial processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to support internal stakeholders and external audits.

Accounts Receivable & Cash Management

  • Post and balance incoming cash transactions daily and provide accurate cash forecasting.
  • Manage customer credit limits, conducting thorough evaluations and making recommendations.
  • Proactively engage with internal and external customers for the collection of overdue accounts.
  • Process and reconcile commissions, fighting funds, and other promotional payments.
  • Handle release of parts and trucks from credit hold, track and process direct ship orders.
  • Address and resolve customer and dealer queries related to accounts, providing necessary documentation like invoice copies, statements, and credit references.
  • Coordinate sales order corrections and manage the validation and renewal of sales exemption certificates.
  • Maintain accurate customer master data and issue customer statements and reminders.

Tax & Compliance

  • Manage and process Use and Sales tax filings, including setting up and updating tax jurisdiction codes within the ERP system.
  • Monitor and manage compliance with company policies, including the gift registry.
  • Oversee and update travel policies in alignment with corporate directives.
  • Administer the expense report process within Concur, including reviewing, auditing submitted receipts, and rejecting/communicating non-compliant reports.
  • Issue, terminate, and oversee Travel and Purchase cards.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Actively identify and drive improvements within financial and accounts receivable processes, focusing on cost savings and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement process enhancements and ensure data quality.
  • Support banking access and activities, including processing weekly payment runs.
  • Oversee the coding of invoices and purchase requisitions.
  • Provide back-up support for outgoing cash transactions and general ledger account reconciliations.

Liaison & Communication

  • Serve as a liaison with financing banks, corporate tax teams, external tax consultants, and auditors.
  • Communicate effectively with all company employees regarding Concur/Travel and Compliance processes.

Tasks And Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance or related field of study with applicable experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in general accounting and/or accounts receivable roles.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping procedures, and financial regulations.
  • Strong computer skills, with proven proficiency in ERP systems; SAP experience is highly preferred.
  • High math aptitude and exceptional ability to work accurately with numbers and financial data.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, handle complex problems with minimal supervision, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required.
