Role Overview
Reporting to the Data Centre Manager, the DC IT Services Team Lead will play a vital role in contributing to the global HPC and Cloud Solutions team.
This role requires a proven track record across a wide range of activities connected with running an HPC Data Centre IT team. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage the team responsible for the computer systems and data in the HPC data centre. You will be responsible for storing and securing all types of data in the centre, whether it comes from internal or external stakeholders. You will be responsible for upholding the integrity of the data, including its security, confidentiality, and availability. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the availability and capacity of the data centre HPC equipment, including CPU, GPU, Storage, and Infrastructure systems.
This role will focus on managing and developing the staff working in the Data Centre IT Services team. The DC IT Services Manager will play a critical role in overseeing customer service, personnel management, equipment maintenance and inventory. Asset lifecycle management is a key skill for this role.
This role requires regular presence on site at the Data Centre, with some remote working possible. It requires a well-organized and professional approach to work with attention to detail being key. A continual service improvement, growth mindset is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and developing the Data Centre IT Service team
- Improve operational processes and documentation
- Management of Incidents, Problems and Change Controls
- Oversee the data centre’s standards and upkeep.
- Help Data Centre Manager with planning for capacity changes
- Maintenance, installation, and updates of data centre servers
- Manage data backup strategy and implementation
- Planning for any probable disruptions, problems, and emergency
- Ensure Corporate Policies and Standards are being followed
- Perform as deputy to the Data Centre Manager when they are absent
- Work alongside and provide resources to the Project Team
- Take over new solutions from the Project Team and implement them in the Data Centre

Qualifications And Experience
- Educated to a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree level in any of the following disciplines:
- Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related computing subjects
- Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related computing subjects
- Minimum of three years’ experience in relevant fields.
- Minimum of one year’s experience leading IT teams
- ITIL Foundation level certification desired
- Experienced in Jira
- Project management fundamentals
