About Jacinth-Ambrosia

Jacinth-Ambrosia is located 270 kilometres North-West of Ceduna, and it is the world’s largest source of zircon. Jacinth-Ambrosia site has a fully equipped modern camp with facilities including a gym, pool, sports courts, recreation rooms, Wi-Fi and Foxtel.   
 

About The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health and Safety Superintendent to join Iluka’s Health & Safety team, based at our Jacinth Ambrosia mine site.  

This is a FIFO role flying out of Adelaide or Ceduna on a family-friendly 4/3 roster. 
 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the main responsibilities of this role include: 

• Deliver the health and safety strategy, managing governance and systems compliance requirements whilst providing specialist advice and support to our people across site 
• Establish, lead and monitor health and safety programs and systems to effectively manage risks whilst driving continuous improvement 
• Lead and manage the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Site Medic Team 

• Compliance And Management Of:

• Occupational health and hygiene, including monitoring and statutory reporting 
• Workers' compensation, injury prevention, return to work and injury management processes 
• Contractor pre-qualifications and safety performance tracking to ensure high standards are maintained 
• Cost control, budgeting and reporting on health and safety performance 
• Drug and alcohol screening and management 
• Train, support, influence and build health and safety capacity at all levels  

About You

• Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety coupled with experience in a similar role in the resources sector (Dip WHS preferred or relevant bachelor degree) 
• Excellent field leadership experience and skills in advising and coaching diverse stakeholder groups 
• A thorough understanding of leading practices for health and safety management and WHS legislation in South Australia, in particular; mining approvals, legislation and processes 
• Experience with investigation techniques such as ICAM and 5 Whys (essential) 
• Desired technical skills include: WHS auditing, training and assessing, ERT & medical knowledge, SAP and Evotix
