Position/Role Overview
The Assistant Vice President is a senior member of the Development and Alumni Engagement (DAE) team reporting to the Senior Vice President. The position is responsible for all information services, gift processing, reporting, and compliance in support of the university's comprehensive development and alumni engagement programs including evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future systems. The AVP provides strategic leadership of the Advancement Information Services function; serves as primary DAE liaison to the Institutional Technology department; and, works collaboratively with a wide variety of colleagues and campus partners to ensure effective use of reporting, data analytics, and technology in support of institutional priorities.
This role will manage the Advancement Information Services team, including prospect management, research, and gift accounting alongside data services, reporting, and analytics to provide comprehensive information support to the entire development and alumni engagement department.
In addition, the prospective candidate will oversee the acceptance and processing of all charitable contributions in accordance with university policy, donor intent, federal and state regulations, and industry best practices.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of all DAE data and reports.
- Administer ongoing comprehensive end-user training and support relating to technology usage across all systems, including subscribed software and Salesforce CRM.
- Ensure adherence to legal and institutional protocols to guard data security of The New School constituent data including biographical, financial, and other demographic information; safeguard constituent privacy rights, preferences, and requests for anonymous gifts.
- Serve as primary strategist for determining how best to meet DAE data and reporting needs.
- Collaborate with senior peers across campus to consider new systems and appropriate overlays for and integration between existing systems; oversee implementation and deactivation activities as needed.
- Oversee, implement and review recurring and special reports and analyses, ensuring such are complete, accurate, timely, and effective tools for measuring progress toward DAE goals and objectives.
- Participate in the design and configuration of TNS enterprise CRM: identifying, documenting, and translating business requirements and processes to systems specifications in partnership with IT.
- Assume responsibility for maintenance and inventory of all DAE’s systems and platforms including selection and management of affiliated software tools used across DAE; manage associated budgets including purchasing, renewals and expirations.
- Develop and provide comprehensive and ongoing training and client support to DAE end-users as well as to other campaign partners who require access to and use of constituent data.
- Supervise, leads and mentors the Advancement Services team within DAE recognized for strong customer support, system expertise, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Work closely and collaboratively with Institutional Technology colleagues on a variety of projects including conversion activities, enhancement of Data Warehouse to meet departmental and institutional needs, showcasing of technology initiatives to increase efficiencies and reduce costs, and similar activities.
- Partner with the Business & Operations team to analyze and develop strategic synergies that enhance operational efficiency and streamline processes
- Other project related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor'S Degree.
- Expert knowledge of Salesforce and affiliated software packages.
- 10+ years of experience in fast-paced fundraising or sales environment dependent of technology to accomplish work.
- Prior management and supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple organization partners and clients.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skill
- Highly professional; detail, deadline and task oriented; Expertise in multitasking.
- Personal initiative, creativity, and problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce Platform Administrator II Certification or equivalent.
- Experience in higher education.
Work Mode
On Campus - This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee. #LI-ONSITE
Salary Range
$165,000 - $175,000 annually
