Due to continued growth, Symons Clark Logistics is looking for a passionate Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Business Partner to join our Health, Safety & Environment team in a full-time permanent role.
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Business Partner supports the delivery of our health, safety, and environment strategy while ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. Sitting within the HSE Team, this role embeds safety into day-to-day operations through collaboration with operational leaders, conducting risk assessments, leading investigations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is perfect for someone passionate about partnering with operations to drive safety outcomes, applying WHS legislation in practical ways, leading investigations and risk assessments, and building strong stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced transport and logistics environment.
What you will be doing…
- Partner with operational leaders to embed safety practices and promote a culture of risk awareness and injury prevention
- Provide expert advice on WHS legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), and internal HSE policies
- Lead incident investigations including near misses and serious incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Conduct risk assessments, internal audits, and workplace inspections, developing recommendations for continuous improvement
- Coach and influence stakeholders on HSE matters, ensuring alignment across internal teams and external partners
- Support the maintenance and improvement of safety management systems, ensuring compliance with legislative changes
- Identify training needs and coordinate delivery of mandatory and role-specific safety training
- Provide timely HSE performance reporting and analyse trends to develop targeted interventions
- Implement and monitor environment and sustainability programs
- Collaborate with operations staff, drivers, contractors, and suppliers to promote transport safety compliance
- Maintain accurate records of HSE compliance activities, inspections, and safety observations
Do You Have…
- Experience in a similar HSE advisory or partnering role, ideally within transport or logistics
- Sound understanding of WHS legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)
- Proven ability to lead incident investigations and facilitate risk assessments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels
- Strong report writing, record-keeping, and organisational capabilities
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- A collaborative approach that aligns with our company values and promotes positive working relationships
