Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Defines West Coast team goals, aligns and provides input to global CMLT.
- Successfully operationalizes key scientific/operational/development areas to advance West Coast CM team supporting multiple in vivo DA and FA.
- Leads and enables team to conduct novel or innovative activities and provides deep technical expertise leading to fundamental technical insights integrating information and knowledge across disciplines.
- Champions and advances new science and operational efficiencies relevant for the CM team goals.
- Assumes responsibility for and directly leads a team of varying levels scientific expertise and operational skill.
- Builds a clear connection to global CM department goals, and Sci Ops goals and initiatives; uses strong coaching skills and balances direct and indirect leadership.
- Finds opportunities to delegate and empower others; has strong self-awareness.
- Fosters ideation, encourages and supports idea development in broad team and local West Coast community.
- Drives talent development priorities within the West Coast team or acts as a mentor and coach for key talent within the group.
- Generates innovative strategy input and project concepts across multiple scientific/technical/development and operational domains.
- Develops and leads innovative interdisciplinary teams, and initiatives using a well-developed internal and external scientific and technical network.
- Conducts long- and mid-term planning to identify specific, measurable anticipated impact of team objectives and adapts plans based on strategic changes, external forces, and own insights.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years’ experience in Comparative Medicine leadership
- Lead teams in animal care, or pharmacology; set strategic goals; manage operations
- Deep knowledge of AAALAC guidelines, vivarium operations, in vivo research, pharmacology, and animal care
- Travel to San Diego/Emeryville
The salary for this position is expected to range between $152,600 and $283,400 per year.
The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
