The role of the Health & Safety Manager (HSM) is to develop and implement effective health and safety policies and programs within Swift. This includes managing all aspects of occupational health and safety, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, conducting risk assessments, implementing controls and monitoring their effectiveness, providing training and education to employees on health and safety matters, and promoting a positive safety culture throughout the organization. The HSM will also be responsible for coordinating incident investigations and reporting, as well as developing and maintaining emergency response plans. Additionally, this position requires close collaboration with other departments such as Human Resources, Operations, and Facilities to ensure seamless integration of health and safety initiatives into daily operations.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and manage health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with relevant laws and regulations;
• Conduct workplace inspections and hazard identification;
• Collaborate with management to identify potential risks and take corrective action to mitigate them;
• Investigate accidents/incidents and prepare reports for submission to the appropriate authorities;
• Provide training on occupational health and safety topics;
• Maintain accurate records related to health and safety activities;
• Promote employee involvement in health and safety efforts through education and communication;
• Stay updated on changes in relevant legislation and industry best practices regarding health and safety.

Qualifications:

• Certified Health & Safety Advisor – Level 1 (mandatory)
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field;
• Experience in developing and implementing health and safety programs;
• Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and standards;
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills;
• Effective communicator both verbally and written;
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;
• Highly organized and detail-oriented;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
