Location: Lowell General Hospital - 295 Varnum Avenue - Lowell, MA
Hours: 40 hours - 3:00pm - 11:30pm with pay differentials - Every other weekend and every other holiday is required
Job Overview
Under the direction of the Supervisor/Site Manager, this position performs a variety of housekeeping and administrative tasks and assists in the supervision of housekeeping employees in the absence of the supervisor. This position coordinates the department daily tasks, among frontline employees, and ensure a clean, safe environment. This position is responsible for room inspections, coordinating scheduled floor care, shift lineup coverage, inter-department customer relations, and supervision of bed tracking. This position will also perform various other tasks to aid the shift they are assigned to by the ES department. Including covering shift positions when the department has scheduling constraints.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1. High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2. Three (3) years of related experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
3. Bilingual.
Duties And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- 1. Completes weekly projects as designated by the supervisor. Coordinates all project work assigned by management for shift(s), and communicates progress of work with other shift leads. Reports any equipment problems to supervisor.
- 2. Makes sure employees are properly equipped and supplied with the necessary items to complete their tasks.
- 3. Follows proper procedures concerning infection control, chemical control, hazardous waste disposal and handling.
- 4. Follows proper work safety practices and body mechanics.
- 5. Performs beginning and end of shift check-in, and rounds through facility.
- 6. Operates of heavy duty electrical equipment: wet vacuums, extractors, buffers, floor machines, auto scrubbers, upholstery machines, pressure washers and upright vacuums.
- 7. Participates in accurate inventory and record keeping concerning laundry services. Communicates to manager when supplies are needed.
- 8. Performs other duties as required e.g. marking linen; cleaning the linen areas; washing/drying mops, rags, lab coats, cubicle curtains, kitchen linens, etc.
- 9. Performs the following as needed during functions: setting up of furniture, distribution and set-up of audio visual equipment, and general cleaning, before or after functions.
- 10. Successfully completes competency assessment. Answers questions concerning policies and procedures while in the work environment.
