About The Role

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this newly created position plays a key role in supporting Hampshire’s growth through expert legal guidance on property acquisitions, disposals and due diligence processes.

You’ll partner closely with our Acquisitions, Development, Finance, and Operations teams to assess risk, structure transactions and deliver efficient, compliant outcomes across Australia and New Zealand.

It’s a hands-on, autonomous role perfect for someone who enjoys balancing technical precision with commercial pragmatism.

What You’Ll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage legal due diligence for acquisitions, disposals, and development projects
  • Review and advise on contracts for sale, purchase agreements, joint ventures, and related documents
  • Provide strategic advice on acquisition structures, title complexities, easements, and subdivisions
  • Coordinate with external advisors, financiers, and consultants to complete transactions efficiently
  • Identify key risks and prepare due diligence reports with clear, practical recommendations
  • Advise on property, planning, and environmental matters relevant to land acquisition and development
  • Maintain and improve acquisition precedents, templates, and contract registers
  • Support Hampshire’s acquisition pipeline by providing timely, business-focused legal input

What You’Ll Bring

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent, with a current unrestricted practising certificate
  • 4–6+ years’ post-admission experience in property law, with a focus on acquisitions and due diligence
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across property and commercial transactions
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk with business goals
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience in land leasing, mixed-use communities, or large-scale property projects will be highly regarded
  • Prior in-house experience (or experience advising property developers) is desirable
