Job Purpose: The Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of mechanical equipment used in coal mining operations. This role involves ensuring high equipment availability, reducing downtime, and improving overall reliability through preventive and corrective maintenance strategies. The Maintenance Engineer will also focus on implementing digital tools and automation technologies to enhance maintenance efficiency and drive continuous improvement in mechanical systems.

 Engineering Services- Mechanical -Coal Mining

Project Execution:

  • Lead and manage the execution of mechanical projects within the mining sector, including CHP Projects, Conveyor Projects, and Silo Projects.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery, adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Oversee project documentation, including technical specifications, progress reports, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, resolving any mechanical engineering challenges that may arise during project implementation.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to maintain high standards of mechanical project execution.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical projects domain.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and assess project risks, developing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards throughout project execution.

Mechanical Maintenance And Repairs:

Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical systems, including conveyors, crushers, loaders, and other mining equipment.

Conduct root cause analysis to diagnose equipment failures and recommend solutions to prevent recurrence.

Monitor equipment performance metrics and take proactive measures to improve equipment uptime.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and guidelines during maintenance activities to reduce hazards.

Spare Parts And Inventory Management:

Maintain an optimal inventory of critical spare parts, ensuring availability to minimize equipment downtime.

Coordinate with procurement teams to source quality parts and negotiate contracts with suppliers.

Track inventory levels, forecast spare parts needs, and implement cost-effective inventory management practices.

Develop and update parts catalog and documentation for mechanical equipment.

Documentation And Reporting:

Prepare detailed maintenance reports, including equipment status, repair history, and root cause analysis.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and equipment modifications.

Collaborate with the engineering team to update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for mechanical maintenance.

Generate performance metrics and maintenance KPIs for management review.

Stakeholder Coordination And Continuous Improvement:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, safety, and procurement, to align maintenance activities with business objectives.

Participate in regular meetings to discuss equipment reliability, safety concerns, and maintenance plans.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize mechanical systems and reduce maintenance costs.

Provide training and mentorship to junior maintenance staff to build technical capabilities.

Digitization And Automation:

Leverage digital tools and automation technologies to streamline maintenance processes and improve equipment monitoring.

Implement predictive maintenance solutions using IoT sensors and data analytics to predict equipment failures.

Train maintenance teams on the use of digital platforms for real-time equipment diagnostics and performance tracking.

Analyze data from automated systems to optimize maintenance schedules and reduce unplanned downtime.
