Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced Angular developer to upgrade and modernize an existing legacy application. The role involves understanding the old system, planning how to move it to the latest Angular version, and building clean, fast, and user-friendly front-end modules. You’ll work on improving performance, writing quality code, and ensuring smooth integration with backend APIs. The job also includes estimating effort, reviewing code, and working closely with project managers, backend teams, and other stakeholders to deliver a stable and modern front-end solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze Legacy Codebase:
- Review existing application architecture, frameworks, and dependencies.
- Identify obsolete, redundant, or inefficient components that need modernization or refactoring.
- Modernization Planning:
- Design a clear migration strategy to move from the old stack to modern Angular (v13+).
- Suggest incremental rollout plans where applicable.
- Recommend improvements for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
- Effort & Time Estimation:
- Provide detailed technical assessments, time, and effort estimates for modernization tasks.
- Collaborate with project managers to finalize realistic delivery timelines and milestones.
- Implementation & Development:
- Build and modernize front-end modules using Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, and state management tools (NgRx or equivalent).
- Integrate front-end components with APIs, ensuring smooth data flow and responsive UI/UX.
- Code Quality & Best Practices:
- Enforce clean coding standards, unit testing, and modular architecture.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers if required.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with backend engineers, QA, and stakeholders to ensure alignment between modernization goals and functional requirements.
- Communicate trade-offs and dependencies clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills
- Core Expertise: Angular (v10+), TypeScript, HTML5, SCSS, RxJS, NgRx (or similar).
- Architecture & Migration: Strong understanding of legacy-to-modern migration approaches, modular Angular architecture, and dependency management.
- Performance Optimization: Experience in lazy loading, AOT compilation, and bundle optimization.
- Version Control: Proficient in Git and CI/CD-based workflows.
- Testing: Experience with Jasmine, Karma, Jest, or Cypress.
- API Integration: Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and front-end integration patterns.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical ability, communication skills, and experience in estimation and stakeholder discussions.
