About This Opportunity

Join the Faculty of Science in marketing, communications and future students team as a Senior Engagement Officer to drive high school engagement events and initiatives for the Faculty. This pivotal role is responsible in collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders and colleagues for the end-to-end planning and delivery of an annual cycle of engagement initiatives for a variety of audiences, predominantly future students.

You will work behind the scenes to coordinate, plan, promote, evaluate and support delivery of high school engagement events and initiatives to increase participation and engagement. You’ll  build and maintain strong relationships with team members, academic staff, central UQ teams, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities Will Include:

Event Management

  • Coordinate and deliver end-to-end planning, execution, promotion, and evaluation of strategic outreach and engagement events and initiatives, including ensuring appropriate data capture and use of customer relationship management and communication systems,  ensuring alignment with faculty and UQ priorities.
  • You will also coordinate and support faculty involvement in central and school-led future student outreach, engagement and recruitment events and initiatives.
  • Produce audience-centric, brand-compliant marketing content, materials, and presentations to support events and engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate data to support the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of effectiveness, and apply insights and current market research and trends for continuous improvement.

Stakeholder and partner relationship development

  • Cultivate and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high quality service and expectations are met.
  • You will proactively identify opportunities to develop and enhance future student engagement partnerships that support the achievement of the faculty’s student recruitment priorities.

Teamwork

  • Contribute to a high-performing, client-focused, results-driven team culture that values continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of processes, guides, toolkits, and training to support colleagues and stakeholders to deliver high-quality engagement. You may from time to time also supervise casual student ambassadors.

Please note some evening, early morning or weekend work outside standard hours is required for key events (e.g. Open Day, careers markets, industry events), along with some intercampus travel.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in marketing, events management, business, or a related field, with at least four years of relevant professional experience. This must include strong experience in planning, delivering, coordinating, and evaluating successful engagement activities and events for diverse audiences.
  • Strong experience in event planning, management and delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. You are skilled in building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and effectively collaborating to achieve strategic outcomes and deliverables.
  • Experience in creating event communications, email marketing content and presentations to support events and engagement, including the ability to translate complex information into plain language for target audiences.
  • You are also proficient in collecting, maintaining, and using accurate data to produce evaluation reports and implement insights for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organisational skills, initiative, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability, with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of digital tools, including MS Office suite, event/email marketing software, CRM databases, and Adobe creative suite/Photoshop.

Experience in a university, government or other large, complex organisation is desirable.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
