State Construction Structural Engineer, Transportation Engineer 4, Office of Construction Administration, PN 20050502
What You Will Do:
- Lead Structures Policy & Standards: Develops and updates statewide specifications, quality assurance programs, and the Construction Inspection Manual to ensure consistency across districts.
- Technical Oversight & Support: Provides expert guidance on structural construction issues, reviews complex projects, and advises on contract compliance and change orders.
- Quality Assurance & Reviews: Conducts Technical Process Reviews (TPRs), prepares annual Quality Assurance Reports (QARs), and performs on-site evaluations.
- Specification Development: Works with design and research teams to evaluate and support the use of new materials and construction methods through specification updates.
- Policy Development: Drafts policies and procedures to support consistent practices and align with performance goals.
- Training & Outreach: Designs and delivers online training for local governments, construction staff, and contractor associations using tools like Microsoft Office.

Qualifications
Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. exp. as group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction & training to employees engaged in engineering projects or 2 yrs. exp. in managing engineering research projects (i.e., managing research projects applies only to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.
-Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 3, 85643; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
