Risk Advisory Analyst

About the role – Permanent, full-time 

We have an opportunity for a Risk Advisory Analyst to join our Customer Experience (CX) Division. In this role you provide first line risk advice and controls monitoring to ensure risks are identified and managed in line with People First Bank’s (PFB) Risk Management Framework.

As the voice of risk and compliance in Line 1, you will help the CX business meet our risk management and cultural expectations while balancing sound risk practices with the growth aspirations of the business.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in portfolio and the broader business to ensure risk is managed and that there is understanding of the desired risk culture.
• Champion the “Voice of Risk” in the portfolio’s day-to-day activities, team meetings, decision making, team and individual training. This should include a willingness to challenge the status quo to achieve positive risk outcomes.
• Support Line 1 business capability development as it relates to Risk and Compliance, utilising PFB policies and procedures.
• Work in consultation 0with second and third lines of defence (Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit).
• Ensure understanding of relevant compliance obligations and assist where required to implement updates to policies and procedures.
• Assist Senior Leaders to address open audit, assurance and portfolio-identified Issues and associated Treatment Plans.

Location:

Ideally, we are seeking applicants based in Toowoomba, Brisbane or Adelaide, but will consider applications from all locations for this role. We encourage you to put thought into how the work may be undertaken given your location and what support you may require. 

About You:

The ideal candidate for this role brings at least two years of experience in the Financial Services or Insurance industry, with a strong background in a 2nd or 1st line risk or compliance being highly desirable. You possess excellent analytical skills and are adept at communicating complex information clearly, while also managing key stakeholder relationships effectively. Hands on experience using Prod and Prosper systems is advantageous. With a solid business acumen, you are self-motivated, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and skilled in managing multiple tasks and competing priorities, especially during high-pressure periods. Your collaborative and supportive attitude fosters teamwork, while an agile communication style allows you to tailor their message to different audiences.
