Job Description Summary
The Staff Engineer – Repair Development is responsible for providing technical and operational leadership on repair development of Aircraft Jet Engine Structure components at GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Center.All activities relating to enhancing services technology integrating customer data, or capturing engines/products reliability, availability, maintenance, safety and other performance parameters. Includes hourly, nonexempt and exempt employees as well as manager roles responsible solely for these activities. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Site Overviewestablished In 2000, The John F. Welch Technology Center (Jfwtc) In Bengaluru Is Our Multidisciplinary Research And Engineering Center. Engineers And Scientists At Jfwtc Have Contributed To Hundreds Of Aviation Patents, Pioneering Breakthroughs In Engine Technologies, Advanced Materials, And Additive Manufacturing.
Roles Overview:
- Development of repair and inspection technologies, process qualification, industrialization. Related program deliverables to repair facilities for new and updated processes.
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Ideal Candidate:
Should have experience in mechanical design and repair of gas turbine rotating parts components.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors/ Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 12 years relevant experience on mechanical design and repair of aircraft engine/Gas turbine structural components
- Clear thinker and effective problem solver
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and networks
- Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities
