Salary Grade: T23
Salary Range: $32,000 - $40,000

The position is in the Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine (iGEM), established at Temple University in 2014. The Institute aims to harness molecular evolutionary knowledge and tools to advance research and development from biodiversity to biomedicine. iGEM is home to many high-profile and highly cited researchers, supported by millions of dollars in external funding each year.
The advertised position is for multiple Research Technicians in Prof. Sudhir Kumar's iGEM laboratory to provide professional-level support. Responsibilities include organizing and conducting computational analysis in genomics, evolution, and/or medicine to assist in the analysis of various types of molecular sequences and related datasets, implementing algorithms, and analyzing high-throughput data for empirical research. The Research Technician will have the opportunity to contribute innovative methods and data analytics tools to foundational platforms that support the scientific community. This position offers a chance to join a dynamic and agile multidisciplinary research team supporting national and international projects, with a focus on genetic variation among individuals, populations, and cells. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related field and at least 6 months experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related field.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Organization skills and record-keeping, ensuring reproducibility.
- Superb and clear understanding of the data produced.
- Demonstrated thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with other students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis and computer programming with standard languages and tools is desired.
This is a grant-funded position.
