Develops, tests and maintains Wood’s Data Mesh

Develop and communicate a strategic vision for data projects that align with organisational goals. 

Develops, tests and maintains ancillary assets such as Microsoft Power Automate flows, Microsoft Dataverse tables, Microsoft SharePoint Lists, and Microsoft Power Apps

Lead strategic data analysis initiatives to support high-level decision-making processes

Collects, integrates, consolidates data from multiple data sources so it can used in analyses to discover business insights.

Implements data quality best practices as part of DataOps 

Develops and implements data governance practices using Microsoft Purview

Supports Woods journey on AI with respect to Woods Data Mesh.

Oversee and manage complex data projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of insights.

Provides Ownership and Accountability for Wood’s Data Mesh.

Uses Microsoft Fabric to build out Wood’s Data Mesh, and related Data Products.

Plays a key role in Data Governance

Interface with multidisciplinary team to generate and collate data; creates data sets by extracting large amounts of raw data from multiple different operational systems

Cleans data by identifying and removing human, machine or instrument errors, validates records, applies formatting and remove non-useful data

Uses Microsoft Power BI to analyse data to identify areas requiring additional investigation, and add value by generating project specific data summaries, reports and dashboards to effectively communicate data to internal and external clients

Plays a key role in our growing Project Data Analytics team, delivering the goal of helping Wood and its clients turn data into useful information for decision making

Provides a technical point of contact for internal and external clients, supporting their data analytics requirements

Provides the technical knowledge and solutions to deliver integrated data analysis and reporting against varying requirements and scopes

Drive innovation in data analysis methodologies and tools to stay ahead of industry trends

Works on technology Proof of Concepts to improve data capture, storage, rationalisation, analysis, reporting & visualisation capabilities

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data analysis efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a data-oriented field like Software Engineering, Statistics, or Computer Science and / or a qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Process engineering is preferred but not essential

Knowledge, Skills And Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in industry demonstrating results within the function
  • Extensive experience in data analysis, with a proven track record of delivering impactful results
  • Experience in Data Product Management

Experience Of:

  • Understanding of how engineering projects are conducted is essential, in particular how data plays a part in driving project delivery and solving the problems of project managers, project controls and engineering teams on a day-to-day basis
  • Proven application of skills and ability to design effective reports or dashboards to help drive the delivery of project teams, and inform data driven decision making
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Power BI, including Power BI Dataflows and PL-300 Certification.
  • Experience in Microsoft Fabric including DP-600 and DP-700 Certifications.
  • Experience of PowerShell, Python, SQL, Power Query and DAX languages 
  • Strong understanding of Data Mesh concepts
  • Strong understanding of data modelling best practices e.g. normalisation, schematisation etc
  • Strong understanding of authentication methods
  • Strong understanding of Security best practices across Microsoft Power BI and Fabric
  • Understanding of software development practices 
  • Understanding of software development methodologies e.g. Scrum, Kanban etc
  • Experience in CI/CD best practices for Data Products
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in Microsoft Power Apps
  • Experience in Microsoft Power Automate, including Power Automate Desktop
  • Experience in Microsoft Dataverse
  • Experience in Microsoft SharePoint, in particular creating and maintaining SharePoint Lists and Document Libraries.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation including experience of communicating technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Experience in Azure, including Azure Cost Management Portal
  • Experience in Azure Logic Apps
  • Experience in creating and using Azure Key Vaults
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance Concepts
  • Experience in Microsoft Purview
  • Experience in Microsoft Information Protection
