OCU Group is seeking a talented Document Controller to join the team in Eggborough North Yorkshire. 


As the Document Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient management, control, and distribution of project documentation throughout the lifecycle of OCU design and build projects. Operating within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, facilitating collaboration between internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO: 9001 and ISO: 19650.

As the Document Controller you will support the delivery of high-quality projects by implementing robust document control procedures across platforms such as Viewpoint For Projects, ProjectWise, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). You will ensure that all project documentation including drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence is properly classified, version-controlled, and accessible to relevant parties, reducing risk, improving traceability, and supporting informed decision-making.

The position requires a proactive approach to managing workflows, document lifecycles, coordinating approvals, and maintaining audit trails, while also providing guidance and training to project teams on best practices in document control and information management. The Document Controller contributes to the overall success of the project by enabling seamless communication, supporting compliance, and safeguarding the integrity of project data.

To be successful in the role you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Upload, review, and distribute project documentation using Viewpoint For Projects, ProjectWise, ACC, SharePoint and any other CDE system used on OCU projects.
  • Maintain version control and ensure only current documents are accessible to project teams.
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly classified, indexed, and stored.
  • Conduct regular audits of projects to ensure all project documentation is stored correctly.
  • Report all non-conformances relating to Information Management to the Document Control Manager.
  • Ensure documents such as the Master Document Register (MDR), Transmittal Register and Incoming Information Register is up to date and ensure the integrity of the registers throughout the project lifecycle.

You will also need to ensure documentation complies with client-specific requirements, internal procedures, and international standards such as ISO: 9001 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO: 19650 (BIM Information Management).Along with supporting audits and quality checks by maintaining accurate records and logs. Apply metadata and naming conventions in line with ISO: 19650 and project specific requirements.

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders is an integral part of this role so you must have exceptional communications skills.
  • Skill and experience required for this role:
  • Proven experience in document control within Design, Construction, Engineering, or Infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in systems such as Viewpoint For Projects, ProjectWise, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office such as Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Certification in Document Control or related field.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 19650 standards and their application in document control.
  • Experience with other platforms such as Aconex, Asite, or ALIM.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and Common Data Environments (CDEs).
