We plan to build transformational experiences in Copilot notebook and are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineering Manager in the OneNote Cloud Experiences team. The problems we solve will include building a multitude of grounding capabilities, creation of richer artifacts, multi-modal capture support, and building agent support on top of Copilot notebooks. The problems will also encompass deep architectural improvements to optimize performance and increase reliability. We plan to build these experiences at scale across all Web and mobile platforms and will continue to use the best-in-class infrastructure that boosts developer productivity and engineering velocity.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and partner teams to deliver a set of features with the right overall design and architecture.
- Drive cross-org alignment through partnerships and co-development following the “One Microsoft” philosophy.
- Ensure the output of your team with an emphasis on quality, performance, simplicity, durability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Build, grow, and retain a team of high-performance Software Engineers by delivering on the Model, Coach, and Care core priority for Managers at Microsoft.
- Foster a culture where everyone can bring their full and authentic self to do our best work and thrive.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years developing AI-powered applications or integrating AI/ML features into product features.
- 2+ years experience as an engineering manager, or a technical lead with a passion for coaching and mentoring others.
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- 4+ years people management experience.
- Experience in building web applications using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, or Relay.
- Experience leveraging AI to increase engineering velocity and quality.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional and cross-org partnerships with product, research, design, and eng teams.
- Demonstrated ability to balance short-term execution with long-term technical vision.
- Proven ability to cultivate a collaborative and inclusive org culture, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
- Passion for staying updated with the latest advancements in Generative AI and cloud technologies.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
