Microsoft Email Orchestrator (MEO) is a mission-critical platform that powers billions of email transactions per month across Microsoft’s global ecosystem. It serves as the backbone for customer communications, transactional alerts, and service notifications across Azure, Microsoft 365, Commerce, and other enterprise services.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead technical efforts, drive architectural decisions, and mentor a high-performing team in building resilient cloud-native services.

Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of distributed systems that orchestrate email delivery, diagnostics, and self-healing capabilities across Microsoft services.
- Drive architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of the Email Orchestrator platform.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, service owners, and SREs to define and deliver high-impact features.
- Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, design discussions, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Own service health and live site operations, including deployment automation and telemetry-driven diagnostics.
- Contribute to long-term vision and roadmap for the Email Orchestrator service, aligning with broader organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional experience in designing, developing, and operating mission-critical cloud services at scale.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
- Solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals (scalability, resilience, consistency), data structures/algorithms, and secure coding practices.
- Experience in cutting-edge deployment automation, observability tooling, and live site engineering practices.
- Demonstrated ability to ship highquality, welltested code and to operate services in production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with email infrastructure, messaging systems, or orchestration frameworks.
- Experience leading a team and mentoring engineers.
- Familiarity with deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, and telemetry-driven diagnostics.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
