As a Senior Software Engineer - Editor Service on the Editor team, you’ll help shape the future of writing assistance by building resilient, scalable services that push the boundaries of natural language understanding and user experience.

Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement cloud-based microservices that power Editor’s intelligent writing features across Microsoft 365.
- Lead technical design discussions and drive decisions that improve scalability, reliability, and performance of the Editor service.
- Collaborate with applied scientists, designers, and product managers to deliver ML-backed features that enhance writing quality and user productivity.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Own end-to-end delivery of features—from ideation and design through development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and accessibility standards across all service components.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND proficient technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Professional software development experience, including designing and shipping scalable cloud services.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, or C++, and experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- Solid understanding of software design patterns, system architecture, and performance optimisation.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and incident response.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and integrating ML models into production services is a plus.
- Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and asynchronous programming models.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.
- OR equivalent experience.
