We are seeking a seasoned and proactive Head of Investment Team Support – Executive Director to lead a high-performing function within the Public Markets Middle Office. This global leadership role will serve as the primary operational partner and escalation point for all Investment Teams—including Equities, Fixed Income, Loans, Liquidity, Solutions, and Multi-Asset strategies.

The successful candidate will have oversight of a dedicated global team of 15+ full-time employees, managing day-to-day engagement, performance, and development. This team operates as the operational front line, directly aligned to Investment Teams and Traders to provide high-touch support and to proactively monitor investment team level operational servicing, and resolve front-to-back operational issues impacting execution, risk, and reporting.

This role requires strong collaboration across the Middle Office Operations teams to ensure a seamless and efficient support model through acting as a single point of escalation for PMs

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide dedicated operational support to investment product/strategy across asset classes. Serve as the single point of contact and proactive operational oversight of portfolio level data and controls for Investment Teams and Traders.
  • Anticipate investment team needs and proactively resolve workflow issues, ensuring minimal disruption to investment decision-making.
  • Monitor start of day portfolio quality/publishing and consult investment teams as needed
  • Lead resolution efforts for operational issues, working cross-functionally with Middle Office, Custodians, Brokers, Technology, and Compliance teams. Own the incident management process, ensuring root cause analysis, remediation, and stakeholder communication. Manage post-incident reporting and trend analysis to prevent recurrence and strengthen controls.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations and enhance control using data and technology. Maintain KPIs/SLAs and deliver actionable performance insights to senior management.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 15+ professionals globally. Foster a culture of ownership, client focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Allocate resources to support changing business priorities and investment demands.
  • Build deep relationships with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Operations, Compliance, and Technology teams globally. Serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring investment teams receive timely, high-quality support.
  • Represent the voice of the investment teams in forums related to process improvement, regulatory change, and platform transformation.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in investment operations, front-office support, or middle office roles at a global asset manager or financial institution.
  • Proven leadership managing front-to-back support functions for multiple investment strategies and asset classes.
  • Deep knowledge of investment vehicles including pooled funds, institutional mandates, and separately managed accounts (SMAs).
  • Extensive experience with trade management workflows, regulatory reporting, incident oversight, and operational KPIs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global teams, including oversight of 15+ FTEs across diverse locations and time zones.
  • Proficiency in Aladdin, CTM, WSO, GTSS, Bloomberg, FactSet, CLS, and other third-party systems used in global investment operations.
  • Experience with global standards, broker/custodian practices, and control frameworks.
  • Data-driven approach to identifying trends, managing performance, and enhancing operational resilience.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $160,000.00 and $250,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
