Community Engagement Coordinator (Temp position)

The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in connecting Westcliff University with its community internally and externally. This position will spearhead our current social responsibility initiatives, propose and plan new engagement opportunities, and manage event logistics, vendor relations, and volunteer coordination.

In addition, the Coordinator will oversee Westcliff’s branded promotional gear, ensuring timely distribution for events, recruitment, athletics, and outreach. They will collaborate across departments to make sure the right merchandise, booth setups, and engagement tools are available to showcase Westcliff’s brand in impactful ways.

This position also supports marketing team initiatives during employee engagement activities, athletic events, community events, and commencement. The Coordinator will additionally support the Communication Manager by helping share event-related content for social media purposes, ensuring visibility and engagement across Westcliff’s digital channels.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented organizer with event planning experience, strong vendor management skills, and a passion for building meaningful connections in higher education.

Community Engagement & Social Responsibility

  • Coordinate existing social responsibility initiatives, including logistics, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Research, propose, and plan new engagement initiatives aligned with Westcliff’s mission and values.

E S S E N T I A L  J O B  F U N C T I O N S / D U T I E S

Community Engagement & Social Responsibility

  • Coordinate existing social responsibility initiatives, including logistics, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Research, propose, and plan new engagement initiatives aligned with Westcliff’s mission and values.
  • Support visibility and community-building efforts for the Athletics department, including presence at occasional games.
  • Partner with the Communications team to promote engagement initiatives across channels.

Merchandise & Promotional Gear Management

  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and distribution of branded gear for students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Ensure timely delivery of merchandise for events, giveaways, recruitment initiatives, and community outreach.
  • Work with vendors to source cost-effective, high-quality items that reflect the Westcliff brand.
  • Manage the merchandise store’s inventory, vendor relations, and fulfillment process.
  • Suggest and evaluate new merchandise ideas based on community trends and event needs.

Event Support & Content Collaboration

  • Ensure outreach teams are equipped with the proper booth setups, banners, and promotional items for conferences and community events.
  • Support planning and execution of university-wide events, including employee engagement initiatives and commencement.
  • Provide on-the-ground coordination for selected events, occasionally on evenings and weekends.
  • Work closely with the Communication Manager to share event-related content (photos, videos, updates) for social media and digital storytelling.

Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, event management, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in event planning, marketing, or related roles.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and event management platforms.
  • Experience working with vendors, contracts, and budgets.
  • Passion for higher education and community engagement.
