Job Functions:
Responsible for environmental services activities as assigned, such as cleaning floors, bathrooms, and spill clean ups. Will help with materials handling and supports all other department activities. Will work with volunteers regularly to coordinate and manage trash and litter clean up.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for keeping clean and attractive tent interior locations such as kids zone, hospitality, volunteer services, donor lane and all other tent departments.
- Support other teams with loading and unloading and materials handling.
- Will lead volunteers to coordinate and manage tent grounds and trash.
- Will perform various tasks enhancing locations and subsystems in accordance with the mission statement of Metropolitan Ministries.
- Operate tools associated with cleaning, forklift, pallet jacks and various other tools.
- Configure and maintain needed paper, soap and cleaning supplies.
- Troubleshoot and improve processes associated with environmental services responsibilities.
- Be willing and able to perform other required cleaning tasks including but not limited to:
- Trash pick up
- Working with volunteers
- Maintain bathrooms, floors and grounds
- Hanging banners and other marketing material as needed
- Assist with materials handling as needed
- Coordinate and assist volunteers with all types of cleaning duties and litter patrol.
- Locate and retrieve various supplies, parts, and building materials as needed to complete assigned projects.
- Support the Holiday Center events as needed.
- Support the team in other tasks as assigned. Meet personal goals and actively contribute to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals for tent operations.
- Demonstrate a passion for the mission, vision, and guiding values of Metropolitan Ministries, in a cooperative manner within the organization to achieve the organization’s goals.
Requirements
Education And Experience:
Knowledge and experience in Environmental systems and tools associated with the trade.
Skills Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary framework. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally as well as in writing. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing/walking/bending/stooping and stretching. Must be able to tolerate various temperatures consistent with outside seasonal changes and with refrigeration/freezer cold storage units. Must be able to work in areas with low or no lighting. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs regularly. Must be able to calculate mathematical equations as needed for maintenance purposes. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Other:
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must pass required background pre-employment screening. Must adhere to the policies and procedures of the ministry; Must be able to work flexible schedules during the holiday season (October-December) and special events.
