Assistant Manager (Communications) (at the rank of Executive Officer) (Ref.: 533366) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Qualifications
- A good Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a relevant discipline.
- At least 4-5 years of solid working experience in communications and/or media relations, preferably in higher education or corporate environment. Agency experience is also welcomed.
- Exceptional command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, with demonstrated skill in writing for the media (press releases, pitches) and translating complex subjects into clear, compelling stories.
- A proactive and strategic mindset with the ability to identify news angles and execute PR plans that deliver high-quality media placements.
- Established media contacts, particularly in education, policy, or news sectors, would be a significant advantage.
- Experience in planning and promoting academic or corporate events.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, able to work independently to drive projects forward while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with digital PR tools, including media monitoring and contact databases.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a PR strategy to secure positive media coverage for the faculty’s key initiatives.
- Work closely with the team to translate complex topics into compelling press releases, media pitches, and feature stories.
- Develop and implement communication plans to promote major Faculty events and conferences to maximise attendance and media coverage. Manage on-site media logistics for key events.
- Write and edit a variety of content including press releases, media advisories, key messages, Q&As, and articles for the faculty website.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
