Scope Of Position:
The Christmas Kettle Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Christmas Kettle Fundraising Program. This will include, but is not limited to, scheduling and supervision of staff and volunteers as well as the placement and collection of red kettles. In addition, the Coordinator will assist in the training of volunteers for kettle work. The Christmas Kettle Coordinator is familiar with volunteer recruitment and available to speak in front of groups such as Service Clubs, Schools, and Chambers of Commerce.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:,
- Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. Some post-secondary education preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months of related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Must submit to and pass a background
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be a minimum of 21 years
- Must possess the ability to work as part of a dynamic, high performing team and maintain
- Must have the ability to relate positively to people from diverse backgrounds and communicate well with the general public.

- Be flexible and open to new ideas, concepts, and ways of doing things while keeping pace with multiple
- Possess the ability to work well independently and in a detailed, professional, and courteous
- Possess excellent oral and written communication
- Possess general accounting and bookkeeping
- Ability to use basic office machines/equipment.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word &
- Able to pass a motor vehicle check as well as complete The Salvation Army driving
Essential Functions:
- Ensure all equipment (signs, stands, kettles, bells, aprons) are clean and in good working
- Ensure kettle signs and stands are delivered and stored according to store manager instructions prior to the first day of kettles.
- Contact all store managers by letter or phone to seek their permission to establish a kettle site at their location. Acquires necessary documentation (insurance, etc.) for each
- Work with Corps Officer to hire and train paid Bell
- Develop and distribute weekly Bell Ringer/Driver schedule, coordinating with Volunteer Coordinator to incorporate a goal of 50% volunteer Bell
- Perform “spot checks” on staff and volunteers throughout the day to ensure The Salvation Army is being represented appropriately.
- Collect and verify daily time slips for all paid staff to ensure accuracy prior to submitting to Corps Officer for
- Troubleshoot issues that may hinder successful daily kettle
- Monitor Bell Ringer / site productivity and work with Corps Officer to make adjustments as
- Be familiar with and ensure seasonal staff and volunteers maintain Protecting the Mission compliance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is carried out in both indoor office and outdoor settings. The office setting is heated, ventilated, and quiet. Outdoor settings may include exposure to wet and cold temperatures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Vision and hearing acuity corrected to within normal range; ability to communicate clearly with staff and volunteers; ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, run, jump, and twist on an intermittent and sometimes continuous basis. Maintain the ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, reach overhead, and carry office supplies. Maintain the ability to operate a computer, telephone, and similar technologies. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Software-related Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook familiarity preferred. Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
Language Skills: Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions and be comfortable working with diverse individuals in face-to-face contact and over the telephone. The employee must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation.
Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical situations.
Performance Skills: Must be punctual, organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess a desire to learn and assist those he/she interacts with.
Protect the Mission: Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.
