Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Overview
The News Desk Producer is an important member of the London newsroom and TV production team. You will work on the team that is the hub for information and newsgathering for the London newsroom and for its two daily news programmes, Squawk Box and Europe Early Edition.
Strong candidates will include those with the relevant experience and skill sets:
- A passion for current affairs and broadcast news in particular
- A proficient knowledge of business and economics, with a strong sense of the key news makers and market movers
- A proven track record of securing – and producing - high-profile guest interviews and/or outside broadcasts
- Pitching and producing stories for use across news platforms, including online and social media
You will report into the Head of News Desk & Guest Bookings for EMEA.

Squawk Box
During three hours of unscripted and dynamic debate, CNBC’s flagship show leads you into and delivers the open of the European equity markets. Anchors Geoff Cutmore, Steve Sedgwick and Karen Tso are joined by leading business executives, policymakers, financial strategists, fund managers and other newsmakers to provide original points of view and instant analysis of the latest business news and key market themes.
Europe Early Edition
In a one-hour show, Europe Early Edition brings you analysis across asset classes and time zones to link the US, Asian and Middle East trade to what comes next in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the London newsroom by monitoring and reacting to news stories and events that are relevant to the CNBC audience
- Help generate a daily or weekly forward planning note to inform CNBC International newsrooms of key EMEA news stories
- Build a strong list of contacts and sources in governments and corporations across EMEA to grow CNBC’s market-leading editorial proposition
- Support the London news desk team with guest booking and TV segment-production
- Participate in daily and weekly editorial planning meetings to communicate to the London newsroom about key guest interviews and outside broadcasts
- Devise and pitch segment and package ideas for use on multiple CNBC platforms, including digital news and social media
- Field-producing polished and professional outside broadcasts with an anchor or correspondent
Qualifications
Skills And Experience And Requirements
- At least three to five years of TV news or equivalent experience, with relevant responsibilities consistent with this role
- Guest booking experience is preferred, ideally with a track record of securing relevant, high-profile guests
- A confident, professional communicator
- A team player who not only thrives working in collaboration with others but can also work independently
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet short deadlines required to work in a demanding live news environment
- Self-motivated, with a solid can-do attitude
- Field production experience would be beneficial, especially for a daily live show
- Additional languages would be beneficial.
