Description
Wei, Wei & Co., LLP (WWC) is excited to partner with Queens College to offer an internship program in Tax and Audit. This program allows motivated undergraduate students to gain practical, hands-on experience in accounting and professional services while still in school.Interns will work directly with our professional teams to gain exposure to real-world accounting, tax, and audit tasks, build professional skills, and better understand CPA firm operations. The program is structured to support our teams in improving workflow processes, such as ensuring engagements are properly uploaded and documented in ProSystems Engagement.
Track 1: Audit Internship
Reports to: Audit Manager / Audit SupervisorResponsibilities:
- Prepare finalized audit reports, scan, print, and organize audit documents.
- Assist with planning and performing audits in accordance with auditing standards.
- Prepare audit working papers and reports for submission.
- Review completed reports for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
- Shadow senior auditors to understand audit processes and documentation.
- Support administrative or project-based tasks as assigned.
- Understand audit processes, internal controls, and financial reporting cycles.
- Gain exposure to audit software and professional documentation practices.
- Build skills in collaboration, client service, and professional communication.
- Learn how a CPA firm trains personnel and organizes teams for efficiency.
Track 2: Tax Internship
Reports to: Staff Accountants / Senior AccountantsResponsibilities:
- Prepare finalized reports, scan, print, and organize tax-related documents.
- Assist in preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Support tax extensions, notices, and client research.
- Help review finalized reports for formatting, accuracy, and completeness.
- Shadow staff and senior accountants to understand the full tax cycle.
- Participate in scheduling and communications with clients.
- Perform other administrative and project tasks as assigned.
- Develop practical skills in tax preparation and compliance.
- Gain familiarity with accounting and tax software used in professional services.
- Build professional communication and organizational skills.
- Learn how CPA firms structure work, review, and client-facing tasks.
Internship Requirements
- Currently enrolled undergraduate accounting students (senior or near-completion preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
- Professionalism and confidentiality in all work.
- Business casual attire during all working hours.
Program Structure:
- 120 total hours for the semester, working 10–15 hours per week.
- All interns will be paid through Queens College only.
- Internship provides meaningful exposure, but does not guarantee a permanent position.
