Consumer Underwriter – South Burlington, Vt

Vermont Federal Credit Union Is Recruiting For A Consumer Underwriter Out Of Our South Burlington Operations Center.

Hourly Range: $24.14 – $36.21

Job Description:

• Reviews and evaluates applicant’s credit data, financial status, financial statements, property evaluation to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money while ensuring compliance with Credit Union and regulatory standards. Approves counteroffers or rejects loan applications, contacts loan interviewer to obtain further information, ensures loan decisions are timely.
• Calculates loan interest rates and payments. Answers questions regarding closing requirements. Review documents in loan file to ensure completeness and compliance. Review approved loans to determine conditions are met prior to closing. Return file to interviewer for closing.
• Provides back up to the loan call center during high demand periods.
• Reviews and decisions indirect loan applications from local dealerships and is responsible for processing indirect loan funding packets.
• Deliver outstanding service that is in alignment with the Credit Union’s Service Promises.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
• A high school education or GED.
• Saturday hours required.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
