Job Description
Osler is driven by a strategic Vision to go beyond for our people and communities. As part of this commitment, we are embarking on an exciting digital transformation to implement a new, modernized hospital information system (HIS). Our dedicated HIS team will collaborate closely with our trusted HIS vendor (Epic) and internal subject matter experts to develop a fully functional system that will empower us to deliver exceptional care and services.
As an integral part of the HR team, the Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) plays a critical role in attracting and recruiting top talent to Osler, thereby supporting our corporate strategic plan. The TAS builds positive partnerships with leaders and hiring managers, drawing on their knowledge and expertise to develop effective talent sourcing strategies. The TAS leads an efficient, end-to-end talent acquisition process by sourcing, pre-screening, interviewing and matching exceptional candidates to positions at William Osler Health System and providing them with the best candidate experience.
Accountabilities:
- Develop partnerships with the hiring managers to understand their unique talent acquisition requirements and help determine optimum strategies to attract the right talent
- Engage with departmental leadership teams to provide Talent Acquisition strategic advisory support based on a thorough recruitment needs analysis and industry trends
- Actively lead the recruitment process and consistently demonstrate exceptional communication with Hiring Managers, candidates, and peers/partners
- Ensure that the talent acquisition process adheres to job posting requirements outlined in various policies and/or collective agreements and that these strategies also respect our employer brand framework
- Engage and consult with leadership teams and hiring managers early on to determine workforce planning opportunities, strategic Talent Acquisition initiatives, best practices, candidate sourcing and recruitment outreach that support the goals and direction of the organization
- Provide candidates and hiring managers with an exceptional experience throughout the recruitment and selection process by efficiently managing, reviewing, approving and processing recruitment requests using our Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Provide advice and guidance with respect to appropriate sourcing and advertising strategies for external postings, using social media (i.e. LinkedIn) and professional job posting boards and networking
- Ensure a fair and equitable process and high standard of practice is applied throughout the recruitment and selection process that complies with legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code), HR Policies, applicable collective agreements and HR best practices.
- Develop job posting summaries, selection grids, interview guides and using appropriate selection strategies and tools
- Manage the job offer process, ensuring appropriate job references and backgrounds checks are completed successfully, providing appropriate compensation/pay grid recommendations and preparing job offer and employment letters
- Track and manage all contract end renewals, working closely with manager and SHRBP.
- Liaise with the successful candidate, providing information regarding terms and conditions of employment and ensuring a smooth onboarding process
- Act as a talent scout and brand ambassador, building and communicating the organizations employee value proposition
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and other special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- University Degree in Human Resources Management or a University Degree in another discipline as well as a Diploma in Human Resource Management
- Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP or CHRL) or Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation or working towards certification required
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience recruiting in a unionized environment required; experience in a hospital/healthcare environment preferred
- Practical knowledge of Human Resources (primarily recruitment) best practices is required
- Strong client focus with demonstrated success in developing working relationships, and using superior communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience using innovative talent acquisition solutions to meet client needs
- Action oriented with an ability to make quick quality decisions and deliver superior results while managing a high volume of recruitment activities
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and efficiently manage multiple assignments
- Effective team player that demonstrates a willingness to assist others and support team activities
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of employment legislation, labour relations language (including collective agreement administration), recruitment standards, and compensation guidelines
- Demonstrated computer skills, including intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) and using Human Resource Management and Applicant Tracking systems
- This position is required to travel and work between all campuses: Brampton Civic Hospital (BCH), Etobicoke General Hospital (EGH) and Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health in order to meet with clients and attend interviews as well attending job fairs offsite

- Annual Salary: Minimum: $79,521.00 Maximum: $99,391.50
