A Typical Day

The Receiving and Inventory Clerk responsibilities include verification of contents, counts, weights, or measures of incoming materials to information against packing lists and purchase order documents. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining min/max levels for maintenance parts inventory. This position also provides back-up to Warehouse Forklift Operators and provides support to the Warehouse supervisor.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for receiving all raw material items scheduled, that are required for production.
  • Responsible for inspecting all inbound materials to ensure product conformity and quality standards are maintained.
  • Responsible for gathering, organizing and disseminating all necessary documentation to ensure all federal, state or other parties’ needs for this information is met and maintained on required items.
  • Accurately process all receipts and other documentation necessary for proper inventory control.
  • Responsible for allocation and distribution of parts, inventory items, and tools.
  • Responsible for data input of all parts inventory movements.
  • Responsible for Identification tags and traceability of all outside inventory containers contents.
  • Responsible for completion of cycle counts on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for the efficient and orderly operation of the stockroom.
  • Responsible for receiving and storing a wide variety of materials, supplies, parts, simple hand tools, etc.
  • Responsible for selecting and properly identifying suitable storage locations, such as shelves, bins, containers, and racks for all articles.
  • Accurately fills orders to reservations in a timely manner.
  • Assist in staging material for production. 
  • Assists in providing prompt and courteous service to all internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for direct material movements to all plants for daily production.
  • Work in unison with the HCC mission statement promoting mutually beneficial, long term vendor relationships through customer focus, continuous improvement, supplier cooperation and quality thinking.
  • Responsible for demonstrating organizational skills with the ability to comply with deadlines.
  • Ability to work with and maintain a computerized inventory system.
  • Ability to maintain professional standards and demonstrate sound judgment during peak periods of activity.
  • Required to operate a forklift or use hand truck to move incoming shipments from shipping and receiving dock to storage, or customer designated area.
  • Assist in coaching and training teammates and participate in on-the-job training.
  • Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off. 
  • Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures. This includes communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates as well as participating in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required. 
  • Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety-first approach at all times. This includes reporting any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow-up.  

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to work 8-hour or 12-hour variable shifts, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to lift-up to 60lbs
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Forklift experience

What Will Put You Ahead

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • SAP experience
  • Dairy manufacturing experience
  • Inventory control experience with direct materials or related field. 
  • Experience in first in, first out (FIFO) stocking method
  • APICS accreditation or Parts Management experience
  • Inventory control experience with MRO materials or related field

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, gases, or other irritating substances.

  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity depending on time of year.

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
