Electrical Engineer
The Hardware Engineering Organization at QuEra Computing is seeking strong Electrical Engineering candidates to support the company’s mission of developing state-of-the-art, manufacturable, and deployable neutral atom quantum computers. The Hardware Engineering Organization plays a crucial role in accelerating the company’s technology leadership and translating the company’s scientific breakthroughs into products delivered to customers. To accomplish this mission, we are looking to hire a candidate that will design, build, and test the electronics that enable the control, measurement, and scaling of neutral atom quantum systems. This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on with world-class physicists and engineers to advance the state of the art in quantum hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, testing, and debugging of custom analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for quantum hardware.
- Support the development and integration of FPGA- and microcontroller-based control systems.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop PCBs for precision signal generation, timing, and data acquisition.
- Perform circuit simulations, schematic capture, and board layout review.
- Conduct lab testing, including use of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Document designs, test procedures, and results to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
- Work cross-functionally with physicists, mechanical engineers, and software developers to integrate subsystems into larger quantum computing platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Education: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 0–2 years of industry or academic lab experience (internships, co-ops, or research assistant roles welcome).
Skills & Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuit design principles.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Cadence, LTspice).
- Hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and electronics lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
- Understanding of signal integrity, grounding, and noise considerations.
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, MATLAB, C/C++) is a plus.
- Exposure to FPGA design or embedded systems is a plus.
Attributes:
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to learn in a cutting-edge technology field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in instrumentation or control systems for complex scientific or industrial equipment.
- Soldering/Rework experience for quick debug efforts
- Experience working in a regulated or safety-critical environment (e.g., aerospace, medical, or high-voltage systems).
- Hands-on experience with firmware development or embedded systems is a plus.
