Seeking Radiation Therapist

Position Summary

The Radiation Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as an integral member of the multidisciplinary cancer care team, providing advanced clinical assessments and independently managing patients in collaboration with attending physicians. This position empowers the PA/NP to deliver high-level care, exercise significant clinical judgment, and coordinate treatment across the continuum of radiation oncology services, while fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform comprehensive patient assessments, including on treatment management, and post-treatment care.
  • Administer prescribed radiation treatments utilizing CyberKnife, TrueBeam, and Gammex HDR systems in conjunction with the Aria Record and Verify
  • Develop and implement radiation therapy plans in partnership with radiation oncologists, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centered care.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for patient education, guiding patients and families through all stages of treatment, side effect management, and recovery.
  • Triage and manage acute symptoms, complications, and treatment toxicities, making autonomous care decisions within established protocols.
  • Participate actively in tumor boards, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary care conferences to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to research, clinical trials, and protocol development to advance the field of radiation oncology.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program, with current state licensure and national certification.
  • Prior experience in oncology, radiation oncology, or complex patient care settings preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
  • Exceptional clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills.
  • BLS (required) and ACLS (preferred) certification.

Work Environment and Schedule

  • Outpatient radiation oncology department, with regular business hours and occasional extended hours to meet patient needs.
  • Strong emphasis on integrated, multidisciplinary team care and continuous professional development.
