Demand Specialist - Base Oil

Job Description:

The role holder will be responsible for developing and delivering the global procurement base oil supply & demand strategy to ensure BP meets its business objectives at minimum cost through effective management of suppliers and customers in accordance with agreed commercial terms. The role requires a strategic attitude, strong partner engagement skills, ability to work collaboratively across functions and regions, as well as experience in managing complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize BP’s global procurement base oil supply and demand position
• Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks related to base oil supplies and customer demand
• Lead negotiations with key suppliers and customers to secure favorable commercial terms
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement category strategies aligned with overall business goals
• Monitor industry changes and regulatory updates impacting base oil procurement activities
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with base oil supplies and customer demand fluctuations
• Provide regular reports on procurement performance metrics and market insights to senior leadership

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical), Economics, Finance, or other relevant field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commodity trading, preferably in the oil and gas sector
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage complex relationships with multiple partners
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret market data and forecast future trends
• Experience with Agile methodologies and digital transformation programs
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while adapting quickly to changing priorities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of relevant software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and CRM systems
