Job Description

Working within Perioperative Services at Epworth, you can choose to join our team on a casual, part-time or full-time basis as a Theatre Technician. Opportunities available at Epworth Eastern, Freemasons and Richmond.  (Please indicate your preferred hospital in your cover letter).

You will be responsible for providing quality service with patient care, equipment handling and transport services while contributing to the overall performance of the operating suite.

You will make an impact by:

  • Assisting clinicians and team members with patient preparation
  • Preparing and maintaining operating suite equipment
  • Providing safe patient transport within the operating suite and interdepartmental transfers

  • Cert III Theatre Technician qualification and above
  • Minimum 6 months theatre technician experience following qualification
  • Clear understanding and use of medical terminology
  • Understanding of, and ability to set-up medical devices
  • Ability to work a rotating roster (mix of AM, PM, twilight and weekend shifts)

About Epworth Freemasons

Epworth Freemasons consists of two sites.  The Main Hospital is on Albert Street East Melbourne has a total of 12 operating theatres. The Victoria Parade site is just across the road and consists of an additional 6 theatres, including our Maternity wards. We often share staff across the two sites.

Freemason’s primary specialities include: Orthopaedics, Gynaecology/ IVF, Urology, General, Plastics, ENT, Maxfax, Ophthalmology and Endoscopy.

Located in Box Hill, Epworth Eastern is a state-of-the-art facility with 14 theatres and expansion of ICU to 12 beds. Epworth Eastern maintains a broad clinical focus from cardiac, vascular, orthopaedic and general surgery to oncology, urology and endoscopy services. Our redeveloped site delivers positive, meaningful, and sustainable impact on the health and well being of our community, delivering much needed health care services and facilities in Melbourne's east.

Qualifications

Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Specialising in Operating Theatre Technician) or above

The annual salary range for Theatre Technicians – AUD $59,718 - $73,037 + super + entitlements dependent on year level (prorated for part-time).
