Our Port of Southampton is UK’s number one hub for deep sea trade, as well welcoming over 3 million cruise passengers per year, and supports 45,600 jobs and contributes £2.5 Billion to the Nations Economy every year. We have a number of 3rd party contract in place covering a wide range of services - whether this is security, M&E, HVAC or Mechanical, they play a critical role in ensuring the smooth running of the Best UK Departure Port for Cruise passengers. We're looking to recruit an experienced engineer to manage a number of our major contracts covering technical disciplines. 

The role is responsible for managing KPIs of specific contracts, whilst ensuring the third parties are working to the highest possible safety standards whilst on port. You'll need to have prior experience of issuing permits and completing detailed risk assessments. First class communication skills are vital with both internal and external stakeholders, and ideally will have knowledge of a range of M&E disciplines including HVAC, Lifts and Escalators to BMS systems

  • Accountabilities 
  •    Leading contractors on a day-to-day basis for planned and reactive maintenance tasks and larger projects. 
  •    Continuous improvement projects 
  •    Building Stakeholder relationships both internal and external, meeting and striving to exceed their expectations 
  •    Development of a robust system to ensure constant delivery of all planned and unplanned maintenance works and that they are carried out to the highest standards. 
  •    Responsible for the planning and coordination of work tasks in the port of Southampton 
  •    Effectively communicate with all relevant internal departments and external Customers to ensure work tasks are undertaken with minimal disruption to Operations. 
  •    Ensuring Health and Safety policies are always adhered to 
  •    Reviewing and Approving items such as RAMS, permits to work and on-site audits 

Required Skills & Experience
-    NVQ 3 Qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline 
-    Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements. 
-    Demonstrated ability to work as an Authorised Person issuing permission/permits to work in accordance with ABP procedures and statutory requirements as necessary and the Safe management of contractors. 
-    Experience of tender process, managing suppliers to strict SLAs 
-    IOSH / NEBOSH / project management experience (Preferred)
