This role is also expected to manage and mentor a small team of more junior designers, champion design excellence, and deeply partner with Product Owners to translate vision into tangible, impactful solutions.

You will lead product-oriented research initiatives, define end-to-end customer journeys, and establish the experience principles that guide your specific product area. Working hand-in-hand with Product Leads and Engineering, you will provide the "North Star" experience for your domain, ensuring that our digital offerings deliver exceptional user experiences and value. This position requires a blend of visionary UX thinking, hands-on execution, and the ability to autonomously drive design outcomes for a complex product area.

  • Defines the UX "North Star" for the specific product area: Establishes and evangelizes the overarching experience principles, tenets, and future-state concepts that guide all design and development within their specific product area, ensuring a unified and coherent experience that aligns with the broader platform vision.
  • Partners with Product & Engineering: Collaborates closely with Product Leads and Engineering teams dedicated to their product area to translate product vision into tangible experiences and user flows based on strategic insights and validated user needs.

Strategic User Research & Insights:

  • Leads Generative & Foundational Research for the specific product area: Independently plans, conducts, and synthesizes product-oriented user research (e.g., ethnographic studies, in-depth interviews, contextual inquiries, market trends, competitive analysis) to deeply understand B2B user needs, behaviours, and business contexts specific to their product domain.
  • Complements Central Research: Collaborates with and leverages insights from the central Head of User Research & Insights, ensuring a unified research strategy. Research conducted in this role deepens the understanding of how enterprise-level insights manifest within their specific product area, informing strategic product experience decisions.
  • Persona & Journey Mapping: Develops and evolves comprehensive B2B user personas and end-to-end customer journey maps to support the development of the product experience within their designated area.

Service Design & Ecosystem Thinking:

  • Considers the wide range of products and experiences offered within the platform and ensures that their specific product area delivers a seamless and consistent user experience that aligns with the overall product vision.

Innovation & Future Visioning:

  • Explores emerging technologies, market shifts, and user needs to identify opportunities for future product innovation within their designated area, translating these into compelling experience concepts and prototypes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Alignment:

  • Collaborates extensively with Product Management, Engineering, Brand & Content, Design System, and Product Design Delivery teams to ensure product experience alignment and successful implementation of the experience vision for their product area.
  • Acts as an internal consultant and evangelist for user-centred design and holistic experiences across the organization, particularly as it pertains to their domain.
  • Leads design efforts within Agile sprints, proactively identifying dependencies, managing design debt, and ensuring timely delivery of design assets.
  • Actively participates in and often lead Agile ceremonies, representing the design perspective and contributing to overall team success.

What You'Ll Need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Product Design, UX Design and research, Service Design, or a related strategic design role.
  • Proven ability to independently plan, conduct, and synthesize user research (generative, foundational, ethnographic).
  • Demonstrated expertise in translating high-level business strategy and product direction into actionable, tangible product experience visions, principles, and experiences.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing examples of end-to-end product design for complex offerings, ideally demonstrating ownership of a significant product domain.
  • Expert-level proficiency in leading design tools such as Figma (including advanced prototyping and component management), and collaboration tools such as Miro, as well as a wide range of usability testing and research tools.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Deep understanding of product development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and how design integrates with engineering and product management.
