About The Team
The Real Estate & Workplace (REW) team at OpenAI designs and manages spaces, programs, and services that empower our employees and advance our mission. Our team covers a diverse range of functions, including leasing, global operations, analytics, construction, workplace experience, and employee services. We strive to optimize the employee experience while maintaining operational excellence and financial discipline by focusing on flexibility, cost effectiveness, intentional design, and scalable, people-centric solutions.
About The Role
The APAC Regional Operations Lead oversees the operations of multiple office locations within our APAC region, ensuring the offices in their region align with OpenAI’s operational standards and culture. Their leadership will be crucial in coordinating the activities of in-region workplace operations managers to maintain and enhance the operational efficiency and employee experience across the region. They’ll act as a bridge between the larger REW team, management and program operations team, and their local offices, driving the implementation of consistent practices, fostering a collaborative work environment, and highlighting and synthesizing unique local cultures with OpenAI’s company culture.
This role will be based in our Singapore office and expected to be in office 5 days a week. Travel: ~20–30%, including at least 2+ visits per year to each office and quarterly visits to major sites or events.
In this role you will be:
- Overseeing the operations and management of all regional offices, ensuring each location consistently meets OpenAI’s operational standards and reflects our cultural values.
- Partnering with global REW leadership to support or lead initiatives that strengthen company-wide workplace operations, including support on leasing transactions and practices as well as design & construction practices in different municipalities within APAC.
- Guiding, advising, and growing local office managers on developing and delivering programs and services that improve employee productivity, engagement, and satisfaction.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the region, serving as the primary liaison between local offices, their business site leads, and the REW management team.
- Managing regional budgets, vendor agreements, and resource allocation to balance office needs with cost efficiency and financial accountability.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with demonstrated success overseeing multiple offices or regional operations, ideally within APAC and in a technology-driven environment.
- A proven track record of leading diverse, geographically dispersed teams, with the ability to mentor and develop office managers across different cultural contexts.
- Strong strategic planning skills, with experience designing and executing operational plans that drive efficiency, employee satisfaction, and alignment with company objectives.
- Hands-on expertise in budget oversight, vendor management, and compliance with local and international health and safety standards.
- Comfort working with workplace systems and technology, including close collaboration with IT and security teams to ensure offices are equipped with the right tools and safeguards.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization and build trust with a wide range of stakeholders.
