We’re ALTEN Technology USA, an engineering company helping clients bring groundbreaking ideas to life—from advancing space exploration and life-saving medical devices to building autonomous electric vehicles. With 3,000+ experts across North America, we partner with leading companies in aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, EVs, rail, and more.
As part of the global ALTEN Group—57,000+ engineers in 30 countries—we deliver across the entire product development cycle, from consulting to full project outsourcing.
When you join ALTEN Technology USA, you’ll collaborate on some of the world’s toughest engineering challenges, supported by mentorship, career growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits. We take pride in fostering a culture where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow.
We are developing a purpose-built autonomous vehicle from the ground up, and the Sustaining Engineering team plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term reliability, serviceability, and performance of our fleet as it scales into real-world operations. As an Electrical Sustaining Engineer, you will own sustaining engineering for critical electrical subsystems, including sensors, wiring, high-voltage interfaces, lighting, and control modules. You will lead the design, release, and validation of solutions to address fleet issues, coordinating across suppliers, manufacturing, and service engineering to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and service-friendly. Your work will directly improve fleet uptime, diagnostic effectiveness, and operational safety, while helping establish best practices in sustaining electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Own corrective action development for electrical subsystems, from root cause confirmation through fleet-wide implementation
- Lead design updates for components such as connectors, harnesses, modules, and sensor integrations
- Partner with suppliers to deliver durable, manufacturable, and serviceable component improvements
- Author and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Change Actions (CAs), and develop subsystem validation and test plans
- Lead fleet trials and analyze post-release performance to verify long-term effectiveness of implemented changes
- Provide technical leadership during retrofit campaigns, installation trials, and field failure triage
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians on best practices in sustaining engineering and electrical diagnostics
- Drive continuous improvement using fleet data, technician feedback, and service reliability metrics
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (MS preferred)
- 6–8 years of demonstrated experience in electrical systems engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment
- Proven record of implementing subsystem-level reliability or serviceability improvements in production vehicles or complex electro-mechanical systems
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (CATIA preferred) and electrical design tools (Altium a plus)
- Experience with DFMEA, root cause analysis, and validation testing for electrical systems
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and cross-functional communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects autonomously with competing priorities
- Experience with EV architectures, high-voltage systems, or autonomous vehicle platforms strongly preferred
Salary Range:
- $100,000 - $115,000 per year
- The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
