About The Position

As an Scientist II with Apex, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to environmental excellence. This position is based in Miami Lakes, FL, and is ideal for individuals who are passionate about the environment and eager to make a significant impact. You will gain hands-on experience in the field, focusing on data gathering and analysis to derive unique insights that contribute to sustainable practices. The role encourages proactive career development where you will work closely with Florida licensed Professional Geologists and Professional Engineers in support of career growth, encouraging you to learn and be able to take on more complex projects and tasks over time. Professional licensure encouraged and supported through career development goals.

This unique role will also involve the application of Environmental Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) services, ISO compliance and auditing services under ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. Direct experience in ISO compliance is a plus, but not required. Hands-on, onsite training for ISO lead auditor certification and experience will be provided under the direction of an ISO-certified lead auditor and Florida licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

This position not only offers the chance to work on groundbreaking projects but also to collaborate with some of the most creative professionals in the industry at a national firm with over 1,800 employees and 50+ locations across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Collect soil, water, air, and building material samples in support of environmental assessment and other technical reports.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data to craft compelling technical reports and proposals.
  • Manage site investigations and groundwater monitoring projects, leading Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Twice per week travel to a client project site for ISO compliance services.
  • Role involves travel to client project and field sites for field work activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience with environmental field sampling and data collection.
  • Prior experience with environmental soil and/or groundwater sampling.
  • Prior experience in due diligence (Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments).
  • Experience in preparing technical reports.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history and reliable transportation are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Local fieldwork averaging 50%

Nice-To-Haves

  • Experience with Florida environmental regulations, FDEP Standard Operating Procedures, and safety and environmental compliance standards.
  • ISO 14001:2015 and/or ISO 45001:2018 Certifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
