The primary purpose of this role is to write, edit, and project manage end-user documentation for NETGEAR hardware products and software applications. The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, has experience with DITA XML, and is a superb analytical thinker who can simplify complex topics for a non-technical audience.
This is a full-time hybrid position based in NETGEAR's Richmond, British Columbia office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create task-oriented documentation for new products in a fast-paced business environment.
- Update existing hardware and software documentation.
- Collaborate with internal design teams to create product illustrations for documentation deliverables that meet NETGEAR branding requirements, quality standards, and the overall project schedule.
- Track documentation deliverables as part of an overall product development schedule.
- Participate in peer editing of documentation deliverables.
- Work closely with project engineers and product managers to clarify and resolve issues.
- Work cross-functionally with local and remote teams, including software and hardware engineers, product management, QA, tech support, localization, and marketing.
- Distill and communicate technical information to audiences with a wide range of technical knowledge.
- Follow departmental and company policies to create and release documentation.
- Manage multiple projects and readily adapt to changing priorities.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a technical writing, information development, or other documentation-focused role.
Bachelor’S Degree.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies.
- Proven excellence in writing end-user documentation in clear, concise English.
- Experience with topic-based, task-oriented technical writing.
- Mastery of English grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to comply with style guidelines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to direct the work of others.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience writing documentation in DITA XML.
- Experience with DITA authoring tools, preferably Heretto or other CCMS.
- Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of networking technologies.
- Knowledge of cellular device technologies.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign.
- Experience with print document design and production.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat Professional.
