Job Description
As part of the global Total Rewards Team, provides support, analysis and administration for global and executive compensation programs, global equity plans (long-term incentive plans and the Employee Share Purchase Plan), and global and executive benefits and pension.
Job Responsibilities
Global And Executive Compensation
Provides support and analysis for the global and executive compensation programs, including but not limited to:
- Assists with preparation of analysis, reports and materials, and provides ongoing support and administration on Executive Compensation matters including HRCC materials, annual proxy circular, etc.
- Supports the annual compensation review for VPs and assists with the preparation of materials for the annual VP compensation meetings.
- Assists and supports global compensation matters including job evaluations, compensation reviews, market analysis and benchmarking, and the year-end compensation review.
- Participates in, submits and tracks compensation surveys.
- May support the administration of the compensation survey submission and analysis system.
- Supports Global Rewards team as needed with analysis, administration, projects, role profiles, job codes update, data reviews, training/communication materials, calibration, system testing, and reporting.
Global Equity Programs
- Understands the global equity plans, including restricted share units (cash-settled and equity settled), performance share units, stock options, and employee share purchase plan (“ESPP”), and is very familiar with the plan terms and rules. Has an awareness of general market trends and best practices.
- Completes regular and standard processes associated with equity plan administration, working closely with the third-party equity plan administration solution (“EPAS”) as needed, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all processes, including, but not limited to: setting up accounts and updating employee data; processing / tracking / loading grants, vesting events, dividends, and terminations; preparing materials for the Board of Directors; reviewing data and managing quarterly ESPP purchases; providing insider trading information to the legal department and reports to global mobility and the tax services provider; and assisting with the annual long-term incentive budget review.
- Supports the preparation of analysis and reports for the annual proxy circular and Board of Directors (such as equity tables, executive share ownership, share pool projections, etc.).
- Assists with the development and updating of communication and training materials for employees and HR teams. Serves as a key point of contact for global HR teams on equity plan administration matters and use of EPAS.
- Reviews all monthly bills for completeness and accuracy, ensuring appropriate charges and processes for payment.
- Provides supports on projects relating to the equity plans, including compliance reviews and implementations for new countries, improvements to programs and processes, etc.
Global And Executive Benefits And Pension
- Has a detailed understanding of executive benefits, including the retirement plan, life, disability & AD&D insurance, benefits reimbursement plan, health care spending account, etc.
- Works closely with the broker, trustee, and vendors to ensure compliance with plans, and appropriate benefits are in place for each executive at all times.
- Administers the executive benefits and retirement plan, and communicates with executives about the programs.
- Processes invoices and reimbursements in a timely manner.
- Completes reporting for the Board of Directors and the annual proxy circular.
- Supports work on the Canadian and VP retirement plans, as required, including the annual audit and ongoing reviews and corrections.
- Has a general understanding of Kinross’ global retirement plans and benefit programs. Supports work on global plans as required, including program reviews, market analysis, design and establishment of new programs, etc. Participates in projects as required.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources Management or another related area of expertise
- CCP or CHRP certification preferred
- 3 to 5 years in compensation, including but not limited to: program design, plan modelling, building/reviewing salary ranges, analyzing data to understand cost impact to business and develop recommendations, etc.
- Previous experience with equity plans and/or executive compensation a plus
- Previous experience in the mining industry a plus
- Experience partnering with HR / business management on compensation matters
