Function
The Pipefitter will play a key role in supporting Standard Nuclear’s production facility by installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that support manufacturing and process operations. This position requires a hands-on professional who can interpret blueprints, work with various metals and materials, and ensure all installations meet mechanical, safety, and quality standards. The Pipefitter will collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to support equipment installation, system upgrades, and preventative maintenance efforts within a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
Responsibilities
Installation & Fabrication
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems for process and facility operations.
- Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications to determine pipe layout and assembly requirements.
- Cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes to required specifications using a variety of tools and equipment.
- Assemble and secure pipes, fittings, and fixtures using clamps, welding, and other techniques.
- Inspect installed systems to verify conformance with design and performance requirements.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing piping systems to ensure reliability and safety.
- Identify and resolve issues such as leaks, corrosion, or flow restrictions.
- Assist with equipment installations, system modifications, and operational improvements.
- Support preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend system life.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
- Ensure work meets regulatory and company standards for pressure systems and industrial piping.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report unsafe conditions promptly.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other trades to support facility and process projects.
- Document maintenance activities, system changes, and inspection results.
- Communicate project status, materials needs, and issues effectively to supervisors and teammates.
Prefered Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pipefitter apprenticeship or technical training program preferred.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or process piping environments.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), blueprints, and isometric drawings.
- Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and other process piping materials.
- Skilled in cutting, threading, welding, and assembling various types of pipe connections.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices, including confined space and hot work procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with process systems, mechanical equipment, and facility utilities preferred.
