About the Role:We’re looking for a Senior Azure SQL Database Administrator / Data Services Engineer to join our growing Data Services team. You’ll play a critical role in optimizing our Azure SQL environments, driving database performance, and supporting scalable data operations across the business.

Why This Role Exists:As our data landscape expands, the volume and complexity of projects from Payments, EDW, Launch Loyalty, and Plans have significantly increased. Our Data Services team acts as the central hub connecting these business units — managing ETLs, integrating platforms like Dynamics 365, and ensuring data is reliable and performant.To meet this growing demand, we’re adding a senior-level DBA who can help us optimize systems, enhance performance, and proactively manage our Azure SQL environment.
What You’ll Do:Database Administration & Optimization• Manage, monitor, and optimize Azure SQL Databases hosted in a fully cloud-based, Windows environment.• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks by analyzing Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), query execution plans, and telemetry data.• Tune and refactor resource-intensive stored procedures, queries, and schemas.• Implement proactive database health checks and automation for uptime and performance monitoring.• Collaborate with developers to improve database performance at both the query and architectural levels.Data Engineering & ETL Development• Design, build, and maintain Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and integration.• Optimize ETL workflows for performance and reliability.• Partner with analytics and reporting teams to streamline data availability for business insights.Azure Platform & Security• Manage database access and roles using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) security groups.• Configure and maintain Azure Key Vault for secure credential management.• Navigate the Azure Portal to administer SQL databases and related cloud services confidently.Collaboration & Mentorship• Work closely with senior data leaders (Carlos Parra and Tarika) to support enterprise data initiatives.• Mentor junior team members on SQL best practices, data performance tuning, and cloud operations.• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requests into efficient technical solutions.
What We’re Looking For:Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Data Engineer working with SQL-based systems.• Deep hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database administration.• Expertise in SQL development, including stored procedure tuning, indexing, and query optimization.• Proven experience with Azure Data Factory and cloud-based ETL workflows.• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Portal operations.• Solid understanding of performance tuning, resource management, and database telemetry.
Preferred QualificationsMicrosoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) or equivalent certification.• Experience with database telemetry dashboards and automated performance alerting.• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps database deployment workflows.• Exposure to data warehousing, analytics, or reporting environments (e.g., Power BI, EDW).• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
