Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.
The Finance Operations role at Smith & Nephew is accountable for delivering effective and efficient finance transactional processes and controls within the GBS centre, specifically in the Invoice Processing function, in compliance with the Group Finance Manual, Minimum Acceptable Practices (MAPs), and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
The role ensures service delivery aligned with SLAs and KPIs while driving positive customer feedback, efficiency, cost control, compliance, supplier and stakeholder relationship management, data analysis, and continuous process improvement. Reporting to the ITP Team Manager, the role holder is a responsible team player who contributes to making Smith & Nephew a great place to work by upholding the company’s Winning Behaviours.
What will you be doing?
- The role requires strong knowledge and understanding of the Invoice-to-Pay (ITP) process, including clearings, vendor open items, reconciliations, resolving aged GRIR/GRNI, blocked invoices (MRBR), GIT, PPV, as well as preparing payment proposals, wire transfers, and manual transactions to ensure accurate and timely supplier payments, remittances, and bank clearing. Responsibilities also include performing invoice and T&E transaction processing within established guidelines, resolving queries, carrying out AP closing activities, preparing and analyzing balance sheet reconciliations, producing monthly reports, and identifying long outstanding items. Ensuring compliance with MAPs, RACM, and the Smith & Nephew Finance Manual, while logging issues on CAPA and updating SOPs promptly, is an integral part of the role.
- Additionally, the role emphasizes delivering consistent, professional service to customers, supporting the resolution of local country inquiries, and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders. It also involves supporting the Team Manager and colleagues in enhancing team effectiveness, assisting new joiners in their onboarding, and contributing to continuous improvement by updating process documentation and supporting system or process changes. The role further provides ad hoc support to the Senior Associate or Team Manager, reflecting adaptability and commitment to organizational goals.
What will you need to be successful?
- Candidates should hold a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Management (preferred but not strictly required). While experience in shared services is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Fresh graduates or individuals with 1–2 years of experience in international BPO/BPM environments are encouraged to apply. Strong English and Mandarin communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Prior exposure to Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay processes will be considered an added advantage.
- The ideal candidate demonstrates strong knowledge in payments, AP, and invoice processing, supported by solid analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail. Competence in MS Office, especially advanced Excel, and working knowledge of SAP are highly valued. The role requires less than 10% travel, offering a stable yet dynamic environment where continuous learning and process excellence are emphasized.
